Untitled* is the work of Joana Fernandes Gomes, developed at the Music Tecnology Group (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and at CITAR (Universidade Católica Portuguesa). Based on a Tangible User Interface, this work is a geometric generative system that is controlled by the movement on the surface. Each object displays different functionality. Some produce forms and other act like tools to shape a form.
There are three kind of tools: barrier, magnet and eraser. Using movement a user can interact with generative visuals. Check the Photos & Video. Try it this weekend 30 of May at Fundação de Serralves

Yes, it’s the Arduinome. Above you can see the details from the Button Pad 4×4 Led’s board. Most of the boring soldering has been done. At the moment we are missing the Box (still under construction) and some nice cables. It’s hard when you leave in a country where they charge you 1.98€ for a 16-way connector. So we just decided to buy a few and have them on stock with some nice coloured flat cable connectors.
Bellow the controller board. At this point only the sockets and the resistor net are soldered. Nuno wanted a thinner, portable box. To achieve this we use the shield separated from the Arduino, connected with flat cables to the Arduino. The box will be made in wood with an acrylic front panel (still a work in progress). More pictures will be following soon.

The first AltLab session took place on the 05 May under the mantra DIY Creativity. This is their first and uber-cool project, the Paperduino, designed by Guilherme Martins in collaboration with the people at AltLab. Build on top of a recyclable cardboard with easy to find components this is a easiest and funny way to build your own Arduino almost for free.
Remember the KISS mantra? It can’t get better then this. All you need is a paper sheet with the board layout, a needle and a soldering iron. Better yet, grab some old hardware, recycle some components and build a recycled Paperduino. We’re going to build a few this weekend for fun and to use them as a low cost development board.

Coração do Mundo is a project by Joana Campos Silva, for the Master degree in Sound and Image at the UCP. The project is an installation/performance that expands the presence of a physical body into the virtual/real world by allowing real-time visualisation of her heart beat.
During a month Joana will be streaming all the emotions and sensations into Patchube. At the same time a physical installation in Lisbon is controlled by Joana’s heartbeat. Each beat will change the light hue, opening a window to visualise her emotions trough colour changes.
We have collaborated with Joana’s in the system design and implementation. Her work expose the benefits of today wireless technology and biometric monitoring systems, by allowing the development of new applications in domains where mobility is a concern.
The public exhibition will take place at “Sala de Coro” UCP, during the 7 and 8 of May at 21:30PM.
