In the last six months i’ve been working as hell, running an online store, giving lectures at the UFP and working in a little project called Spacebits. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Spacebits project spanned from a casual meeting in Codebits 2009. For those who missed, Codebits where the BEST 3-days about web, technology, creativity and fun.
Meet the Spacebits team, from left to right: Celso Martinho, Filipe Varela, Filipe Valpereiro and Fernando Afonso. The goal for this project is to launch an High Altitude Ballon (HAB) with a computer probe to near space in Portugal. Our main motivation is to just build the thing and prove we can do it. The whole process of planning and assembling everything together has been challenging and fun and the idea of sending our stuff to near space altitude and recover it later on is just pure adrenaline for geeks like us.
For starters it will be a live Internet event, scheduled to take flight on 30th of May, 2010, 11AM GMT on Castro Verde. You can follow the ballon in the live Dashboard at http://spacebits.eu/live. Later we’ll post a native app for Jailbroken iPhones too, stay tuned.

Coração do Mundo is a project by Joana Campos Silva, for the Master degree in Sound and Image at the UCP. The project is an installation/performance that expands the presence of a physical body into the virtual/real world by allowing real-time visualisation of her heart beat.
During a month Joana will be streaming all the emotions and sensations into Patchube. At the same time a physical installation in Lisbon is controlled by Joana’s heartbeat. Each beat will change the light hue, opening a window to visualise her emotions trough colour changes.
We have collaborated with Joana’s in the system design and implementation. Her work expose the benefits of today wireless technology and biometric monitoring systems, by allowing the development of new applications in domains where mobility is a concern.
The public exhibition will take place at “Sala de Coro” UCP, during the 7 and 8 of May at 21:30PM.
Invited by inmotion.pt and InearAudio, Julian Rohrhuber and Renate Weiser are in Porto, Portugal to conduct two workshops on Supercollider. The first workshop will focus on the SC3 language, basics in listening, signal processing and algorithmic acoustics.
The second workshop will focus on hot topics such as networking for Live Performance, extended algorithms, algorithmic composition, live coding in hybrid systems, Open Sound Control and physical computing with the Arduino and the Phidgets platforms.

We’re going to Concepta, Feira de Criatividade e Cultura 2009 next week. If you’re near Oporto, Portugal, we would recommend this event from 5 to 8 of February. Visit our exibithion at the faire or join us at Friday 10AM and Saturday 2PM for a presentation of interactive audio concepts designed by Inear Audio using our interactive hardware solutions. We will be there in full force with lots of toys, tons of Arduino’s and a wide range of Phidgets and Sparkfun products.

The multimedia project Blink is a performance born in the context of the Máster en Creación y Diseño Multimedia at ‘La Salle’ (Universitat Ramon Llull, Barcelona). Created by João Sousa Lopes, the project attracted several synergies that resulted in a multidisciplinary work team. Blink is an interactive performance, where the dancer movement and position results in real-time audio, video and light control.
Here @ Inmotion, we are celebrating the birth of this project. Has sponsors, it demanded many hours in skype, personal meetings, phone support, sleepless nights and NO Christmas vacation!!! Junho das Artes is a Contemporary Art initiative from 06 to 29 of June to homage Abílio de Mattos Silva and Maria José Salavisa, with works from Rui Chafes, Pedro Calapez, Pedro Proença, Pedro Cabrita Reis, José Pedro Croft, José Aurélio, Graça Pereira Coutinho e Cristina Ataíde and several other Portuguese Artists.
We support a new and promising generation of talented and gifted Portuguese Artists trough collaborations in audiovisuals performance. Joins us at 28 of June for the audiovisual performance Bikini Kill versão In Memorium (para) Stockhausen or see the Bikini Kill installation during the month of Jully.
